About
I am huge Elvis Presley fan. I am also an artist, and one day I was trying to imagine what a dream job for me might be. My first choice remains: DJ at funerals or other events intended to be really sad and depressing. But my second choice was to have been working as the album cover designer for Elvis from 1955 through 1977. I do not think there was a precific person designated to design all of his album covers throughout his career, but that seemed like a dream job.
So I literally just decided to start doing it. It began with 7" single picture sleeves. I really wanted to create full sized 12.25x12.25 vinyl album covers. I still would love to see my designs that size. But if you have ever looked up "custom made album covers" you will find that they are very expensive and you have to buy like 500 of them. So what is an album but not album-sized? CDs.
Currently I am working my way through creating a full set of the movie soundtracks with new artwork.
I will be listing my 7" vinyl record sleeves here soon too. These began as signed and numbered copies. All my early sales through eBay (100% positive feedback) were signed by me and limited to 5 copies or 10 copies. I listed Money Honey, I Want You I Need You I Love You and Lawdy Miss Clawdy without much expectation. But I sold out quickly. I kept creating new ones, but eventually I did reprints. And even more eventually the spreadsheet I was using to keep track of all this was lost on an external hard drive that stopped working. But I had gotten thoroughly confused long before that.
Because I hated the idea of selling a copy of a picture sleeve that I had previously sold as print #5 out of 5 (sometimes with bidding going into the $100s!) and now I have a new print run of 10 and start reselling at $20 just felt and feels wrong. So I stopped selling them for over a year. Maybe two years at this point. And I have done a full inventory of the sleeves that remain and I intend to list each sleeve, with the quantity listed and sell until they are gone. Not signed or numbered, but but limited.
